Art and Carol were our best friends for the two years we were in Iwakuni. We remember them with fondness. And Chana was a joy to know and we send her our love and condolences.I liked Red Label, and he liked IW Harper. He could hold his own until I introduced Old Fashioned to him. He really loved Credence Clear Water Revival. He was a delight to be around, gregarious, funny, and highly respected by all who came in contact with him. There are so any stories about him I could tell, from moving from Washington to San Francisco with him, Carol and Chana and lots of stuff in a VW Carmen Gia through our dropping off our cars to Shimonoseki. He was funny and a delight to be around. Jerry and Linda Sharp

Art. I always loved working with you at the FAA. We used to kibits about you being a Marine and me Navy. I remember our last lunch together with your wife Norma, my son David. You talked about turning those little blobs into Marines at MCRD San Diego. I will miss you.

Art inspired so many of us younger Marines, touching many lives in ways that made a lasting impact. He and a few others were directly responsible for creating the opportunity for Marine air traffic control officers to command Marines at the lieutenant colonel and colonel levels, creating a career path that had not existed before. Art never let us take ourselves too seriously, taught us to see the humor in the most stressful situations, and constantly provided a positive leadership role model. It is an honor to have served with him, and we send most sincere condolences to the family for their great loss. Semper Fi, Larry and Yoshia Groves

RIP fellow Brother-in-Arms. You were a Patriot and dedicated Leaders of Marines. Per the Marine Hymn, the streets of Heaven are much safer, now that you have assumed the watch. My deepest condolences to your family. May the Great Architect of our universe keep them in the palm of his hands, providing strength and comfort, and may great memories offer solace. God Bless.
