Edward Sidney Bailey, Jr., affectionately called “Ed,” slept peacefully into eternity to be with Jesus on Monday, April 1, 2024 at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in King George, VA. He was born on August 26, 1956 to the late Edward Bailey, Sr. and Lillian Frenzley Bailey. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his grand-parents Nathaniel Bailey and Florence Robb, brother and sister-in-law Michael and Connie Bailey and nephew Lonnell Cole.

At an early age, Ed attended Little Ark Baptist Church. It was a glorious moment on Saturday morning, March 23, 2024 when Ed reaffirmed his salvation among witnesses at Heritage Hall Nursing Home.

After leaving King George High School, Ed immediately enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served honorably in Active and Reserved duty for 11 years.

Ed married the former Willa Mae Washington. From that union, a daughter Veronica Nicole Bailey was born.

Ed went to work at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division for a number of years after he was honorably discharged from the Marines. Then he worked with Burgess Hauling and Excavation for over 31 years until his health began to fail.

Ed fought his illness without complaining. His wife Brenda, whom he married on July 1, 1994, honored their wedding vows and took good care of Ed throughout his illness. Ed loved his family and had fun and laughter with his friends when they were together. He enjoyed fishing and hunting whenever he could.

Loving memories of Ed will be cherished by his wife Brenda; daughter Veronica “Nicole”; two step sons, whom he loved as his own: Lloyd Gregory, Jr. (Nikki) and Norrell Gregory (Keisha); two godchildren Angela Rollins Williams and TJ Rollins; five step grandchildren; a brother Ernest Bailey; three sisters: Pam Cole (Raymond), Florence “Sissy” Ball (Bryan), and Barnita Byrd (Clifford); aunts Barbara Payton, Rachael Jett, Winnie Henderson (Thomas), Evelyn Lewis and Rosie Frenzley; uncle Willie Frenzley (Vernell); four caring nieces Sydney and Courtney Ball and little Mahogany, and Denise Byrd; two special cousins Marilynn Shelton (Lornell) and Troy Liggins (Angela); and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. Five special friends: John and Ricky Burgess, Wayne Ashton, Dorthea Saunders, whom he called his sister, and Tracey Rollins share fond memories of Ed also.
