I had the pleasure of working with Sherm at the Pax Firing tunnel and became instant friends. He was truly dedicated to his family and faith, God and country. Sherm shared a few of his recipes with us, Sherm’s Chili is a staple meal for our family. They will live on along with the many fond memories I have of our times together. He will be forever missed, another one gone too soon! Fair Winds and Following Seas Shipmate, rest easy my friend!! We pray for peace and comfort to his family and sorry for this terrible loss.

I worked with him on board the USS KEARSARGE. He was always telling jokes and always had a smile on his face. He was someone you could talk to and he would have some advice on it no matter the subject. Rest in heaven and my condolences to the family.

This news is heartbreaking. Sabie was the one thing that kept us sane while working on the USS Kearsarge. He made life fun. He was so carefree and adored his family so very much. What a true treasure he was. Sending so much love to his family. May he be forever free. 🦋 🙏 "fair winds and following seas”...until we meet again, shipmate.
