Cheryl, Paul, and Caitlin Suzie and I are distraught by the passing of my Virginia Tech roommate, Bill Duke. We were roommates for our Junior year and 1st quarter Senior year (1966 – 1968) before Cheryl and Bill were married. Bill was a good roommate (except for the snoring) and never complained when I rolled in at 2am on Monday after a weekend visiting Suzie at Wake Forest. He was the target of practical jokes (non-existent Day Student Lounge, grade reduced for underweight essay) and always took them with good humor. During my second Senior year, Suzie and I visited Cheryl and Bill at their Greenbrier townhouse, loved it and the town. Based on that visit, I accepted a position at Dahlgren in 1969, rented a Greenbrier townhouse and have never regretted it. We have many fond memories of weekends at VT football games in Blacksburg, New Year’s Eve in Woodford, buying sides of beef together from the local grocer, and how could we forget the Florida State/VT National Championship game with Bill screaming at Michael Vick on TV. His and Cheryl’s devotion Paul and to Opening Doors for the handicapped is an inspiration to everyone. Please accept our apologies for not attending the services. A neighbor who we dined with Saturday tested positive for COVID Sunday. Bill and Suzie Smith

Our thoughts and prayers to Cheryl, Paul, and Caitlin. Wishing we lived closer so could be there. Bill will be missed but a warm understanding that Hokies in Heaven just grew and he will be watching over his family!
