Robert Mitchell “Mitch” Jones, Jr., 65, of Remington passed peacefully Sunday, April 7, 2024 at his home. Born in Virginia, he was the son of the late Robert Mitchell Jones, Sr. and Audrey Thompson Jones. He retired from UPS after 40 years. He started Power of God Church in Spotsylvania where he pastored the congregation and led the congregation in worship for 17 years. He also attended Lifepoint Church where he was a member of the Men’s fellowship group. He is survived by his wife, April Johnson Jones; a daughter, Randi Jones (Mandee); a step-son, Rodney Shepard; three brothers, Mark Jones, Marlon “Pete” Jones (Kathleen) and Melvin Jones (Kim); mother and father-in-law, Cheryl and Homer Johnson; three nephews, Chris (Anne), Kyle and Justin (Laura); three nieces, Lauren, Marlee and Sydney; and numerous step-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Round Oak Baptist Church. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Friday, April 12, 2024 at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Kidney Foundation at Kidneycancer.org.
