Alfred Lee Carter, 75, of Ruther Glen passed away into the arms of the Lord May 1, 2023 at his home. Born July 11, 1947, he was the son of the late Conway and Mary Carter, and was preceded in death by a brother, Earnest Carter, nephew, Wesley Carter and a brother-in-law, James Cook.  He started his young life at the age of 16 by going to barber school in Richmond and he got his license. He worked as a barber, then decided to try something else. He went to work at a sheet metal company and he the went to work at Fort Belvoir where he retired. He is survived by a sister, Mildred Cook and two brothers, Raymond Carter (Linda) and Millard I. “Muddy” Carter (Carrie); two nieces, Virginia Murphy and Rebecca Hoskins and three nephews, Mike and Richard Cook of Spotsylvania and Chris Carter of Beaverdam.  A funeral service will be held 2 pm Sunday, August 13, 2023 at  County Line Baptist Church with Pastor Dave Williamson officiating.
