Bruce McIntosh Bowe, 67, of Tappahannock passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, August 2, 2022.  He was a Postmaster in Eastern Virginia for many years and the retired owner and operator of Bruce Bowe Construction.  Bruce was a member of Vauters Episcopal Church and the Tappahannock Moose Lodge. 

Bruce was a witty storyteller with a genuine smile and infectious laugh and always the life of the party.  He was affectionately known as “The Kid” by many of his lifelong friends. Bruce enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid sportsman.  He was a devoted and loyal friend and will be missed by many, including his two cats that he loved dearly.

Bruce was predeceased by his parents Wythe Davis Bowe, Jr and Isabella Baylor Bowe, his brother Wythe Davis Bowe, III and his step-son Adam Maynard Bowen.  Bruce is survived by his children and grandchildren Lennie Bowe Shirley (Kyle) and their daughter Isabella Lee Shirley of Virginia Beach and Bruce McIntosh “Tosh” Bowe, Jr (Beth) and their son John Baylor Bowe of Chance; two step-grandchildren Daniel Clarke and Lesley Clarke; one sister Isabella Bowe Hite (Roger) of Loretto; three nieces Isabella Brooke Sanders, Blake Hite Slusser and Kelsey Albert; one nephew Trevor Albert; four great nephews and one great niece; the mother of his children Jane W. Lucy, step-son Kevin Randolph Bowen and his daughter Kylie Bowen and many devoted family and friends. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday , August 13, 2022 in Vauters Episcopal Church, 3661 Tidewater Trail, Loretto, Virginia 22509.  The Reverend Alan B. Hooker will officiate.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
