Donald Lee West, Jr., 72, of Colonial Beach, peacefully passed away after a brief battle with lung cancer on January 29, 2024. Born to the late Donald & Elizabeth West, Donald embarked on a career as a millwright following his high school graduation.

Donald enjoyed motorcycle rides with his family, fishing with his son, and tinkering with old cars. A dedicated family man, he reveled in his role as a loving dad and grandpa, showering his family with affection.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Carolyn West; son, Donald West II (Kelly); daughter, Mary “Toby” Carpenter (Jason); siblings, Gail Gandy, Kenneth “Slick” West (Julie), and Susie Carpenter (Mark); grandchildren, Angellina Fields (Tony), Danielle Hurt (Porter), Brett Wayne Webster (Trista), Makayla West (Nick), D.J. West (Kristen), Dylan Clevinger, and Wyatt Clevinger; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate Donald’s life will be held at 2pm on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Oak Grove Baptist Church.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Cati and Angel, Donald’s caretakers, for their unwavering love and support.
