Ruth Taylor Young Beckner, 92, Ruther Glen, passed away March 15, 2023, at the Bon Secours Memorial Regional Hospital, Mechanicsville, Virginia.  Born in Caroline County, she was a longtime member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church in Ruther Glen.  Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Fay Young, Mary Lee Whittaker (Junior) (Caroline County), and Gina Spears (Charlotte, NC), and four grandchildren, Stacy Salzburg, Timothy Edward Eads, and Tyler Nathaniel Spears; and one great grandchild, Paris Kate Callahan.  She was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas Edward Young and Perman Beckner; her parents, Jesse Taylor and Sallie Southworth Taylor; her brothers, James Monroe Taylor, Raymond Lewis Taylor, Charles Edward Taylor, Herbert Wilson Taylor and Roger Lee Taylor, Sr. and her sisters, Rosa Bernice Taylor Cox and Shirley Taylor Schuler and granddaughter, Stephanie Kate Pitts.   Also, she leaves behind a friend, Dale Long.

Ruth loved working in her flowers, tv church, doll collecting, going to thrift stores and her dog Darby. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023, 2:00 pm, visitation one hour prior in the Bowling Green Chapel of Storke Funeral Home, Pastor Mark Lawrence officiating.  In lieu of flowers you may donate to Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Cynthia Whittaker, 21129 Frog Level Road, Ruther Glen, VA 22546.  A private burial will be held at Signal Hill Memorial Park, Hanover, VA.
