Sharon Smith Garvin

June 29, 1941 - June 2, 2022

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2022 in Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green with the Reverend Richard Headley officiating.  Interment will be private.  The family will receive friends from 2:30 until service time at the funeral home.  “Prior to her passing, Sharon made a request that all visitors both friends and family wear clothing that is bright and cheerful in celebration of her life”.

Sharon Ann Garvin, 80, of Martinsburg, WV passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2022.  Sharon lived a full and happy life. She traveled to many places. One of her favorite places was Australia, where she and Jim lived for several years. She also enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, sewing and making beaded Christmas ornaments. She also made the best sugar cookies you ever tasted! She loved animals of all kinds but especially horses and cats. She also loved all of her family and getting together at holidays was always fun and truly memorable. She was preceded in death by two brothers J. Reed Smith and Edward J. Smith both of Florida. 

Sharon is survived by her husband James P. “Jim” Garvin, Sr.; five children Debora A. Rickett (Thomas) of Prince Frederick, MD, Arthur P. Ludke (Millie) of Front Royal, VA, Richard K. Ludke of Alexandria, VA, Edward R. Ludke (Kim) of Flagler Beach, FL and Christopher Eiring (Iris) of Ruther Glen, VA;  five siblings Judy Pruett (Krieg) of Bridgeport, WV, Regina Smith (Winn) of Fort Worth, TX, Leanna Minch (Max) and Jamie Disterhaupt both of Gainesville, FL and Dr. E. Reed Smith of Leesburg, VA;  her step-mother Jamie Smith of Leesburg, VA  and a wonderful array of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
