Winks has requested his ashes be spread from the highest peaks in Colorado so plans are being made on how his final wishes can be fulfilled.

Winfred “Winks” Rollins, 79, of Dahlgren, VA passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2022, surrounded by his family.  He was born September 21, 1942 in Fredericksburg and raised in King George.  Winks never met a stranger. He was known for striking up conversations with anyone he met. A true knack for always finding common ground with those he talked with and always a story to share.  He met Martha in 1960, married in 1963 and they soon settled in Dahlgren.  He retired from the Naval Base in 1994, although his family will tell you he never truly retired.  Working at the Auto Auction, Goodwill, dog sitting, cutting grass for family, friends and neighbors, and maintaining their home.  He loved spending time on the water and tinkering in the garage. There were very few things he would not modify or enhance to fit his needs. In recent years he took up crabbing again and always brought home crabs to cook and enjoy.  His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and taking them on the boat.  Sometimes he would sneak off with their cars to fill their gas tanks.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha and 3 sons: Todd and Angel of Charleson, SC.  Troy and Diana of Dahlgren, VA; and Tim and Christina of Fredericksburg, VA.  Along with his 9 grandchildren: Emily & Matt Chidester (Charlotte, NC); Casey Rollins (Denver, CO); Josh (King George, VA); Abigail, Wesley, & Andrew (Dahlgren, VA); Jack & Luke (Charleston, SC), & Bryn (Fredericksburg, VA) and 1 great-grandson, Aiden (King George, VA).
