Joanna Adrienne Beger, age 78, passed away on May 25, 2022, with her family at her side, following a long battle with Parkinson’s disease and then ocular melanoma.

Joanna is survived by her husband of 59 years, Stanley Beger; her daughters Adrienne (Kenny) Robinson, Elizabeth (Ken) Bensman, and Joanna (Rich) Beger-Mason; step-father Ortwin Windmuller; and devoted friend Barbara Lindsay. She was preceded in death by her mother Yuoleen Windmuller.

Joanna was born on June 2, 1943 in Lancashire, England. She studied at the Carrickfergus Technical School in Northern Ireland, then worked at the Military Sea Transportation Service before moving to the United States and becoming a homemaker. Joanna was known throughout the family for her cooking and baking skills. Joanna loved to knit, was an avid reader, and spent much of her life caring for her beloved pets.

Shortly after meeting at the U.S. Naval Support Activity, London, England, Joanna married her Marine sweetheart, Stanley in 1963. They welcomed daughters Adrienne in 1965, Elizabeth in 1971, and Joanna in 1973.

There will be a small service for immediate family members only. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or the Wills Eye Foundation.
