Rachael Thompson Payton, 40 of Colonial Beach passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023 in Inova Fairfax Hospital. After graduation from Monroe Bay Christian Academy, she obtained a degree from the Florida Institute of Technology and began a career in cyber security, working for Lockheed Martin for a number of years. She was currently a civil servant at NSWC Dahlgren. Survivors include her husband, Earl Payton; her children, Earl “Duke” Payton, Jr. and David “Koa” Payton; her mother, Debbie Thompson; her siblings, Paul Thompson and Nikki Hill (Jason); her maternal grandmother, Pat Smith; her nieces and nephews, Jordyn Thompson, Ashley Thompson, Jacob Thompson, Olivia Hill, Ella Hill, Charlotte Hill, Jai’van Strother, Journey Richards, Carlaye Smith, Donavin Payton, Kensley Payton, Bailey Allison and Zoe Allison . She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Thompson. The family will receive friends at the Monroe Bay Assembly of God on Thursday, February 2nd from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. A memorial service will follow at 10:00 am on Friday at the church.
