Bella Bourgoin Paradis

August 10, 1930 - October 15, 2022

A Funeral Mass will be held 12 noon Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at St. Mary of the Annunciation, 10306 Ladysmith Road, Ruther Glen, VA 22546. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Woodford.

8/10/1930 – 10/15/2022 Bella Bourgoin was born in Rivière Verte, New Brunswick, Canada. She was a proud and lifelong French Canadian and spoke fondly of deep snow for sledding, ice skating, and her mother’s huge garden. Bella was a clothes horse from a young age. In her early working years, she would buy the latest fashions from a boutique in St. Leonard that were imported from New York City. Bella was always well put together, fashionable, and trendy. Bella met her husband Donald Thomas Paradis in Van Buren, Maine, where he lived and she worked. They were married July 1, 1957, and were together until his death in March 2021. He was the love of her life and she missed him terribly after his passing. Whatever Bella attempted she mastered. She was expert at many, many We loved her homemade chicken stew with dumplings, apple pies, and strawberry jam. She enjoyed needle work, bird watching, and anything crafty. Bella is fondly remembered for her sense of humor and her love of practical jokes. Bella and Don could throw a goo things. She loved to garden and was known for her beautiful flower beds and her indoor tropical plants. Bella was a fantastic cook.d party. There are many fond memories of pool parties at their Stafford, Virginia home with his homemade lasagna and her hospitality.

Bella is survived by her five children, Peter (Sue) Paradis, Sandy (William) Aiton, Thomas Paradis, Rebecca Paradis Lowrie, and Phillip Paradis. Bella was a doting and loving Memere (grandmother), she is survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her brother, Paul Bourgoin (Noella). Her legacy lives on in her surviving family who have learned many talents from her and have adopted her can do attitude. We are forever indebted to her.
