Debby Sue Holbrook, 67, of King George, passed away on October 26, 2022, peacefully with her daughter at her side at Johnston-Willis Hospital, Richmond, VA.  She was born on March 8, 1955, in Rainelle, WV.  She was preceded in death by her parents Lake Thomas Shoemaker Sr. and Elizabeth Dixon Callison Shoemaker.  Also preceding her in death are her sisters; Mary Katherine Shoemaker Helmick, Margaret Rosalie Shoemaker, Elizabeth Ann Shoemaker Williams; and brother Lake Thomas Shoemaker Jr.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband William “Bill” Holbrook and children; Jonathan, Andrew (Laura), Stephen (Casey), and Christa; and especially her only grand-daughter Elsie Marie Holbrook.  She also left behind a sister Jackalee Palmer and brother Charles “Teddy” (Tammy) Shoemaker.  Debby was also loved by her many nieces, nephews, and friends.  She leaves behind her beloved cat Beauty.

Debby spent all of her life helping others.  She met her husband in college and came to Fredericksburg after they were married.  She spent several years working for Nichols Department Store in the Pharmacy.  After moving to King George, she spent time as a babysitter, and later she received training as a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked at Heritage Hall Nursing Home.  Later she went into Home Health Care and took care of over 100 patients.  During all this time, she enjoyed working outside in her gardens and raising flowers in and around the house.  She also supported her children in school activities, scouting, swimming, basketball and baseball.  She was a mother to all.

In keeping with Debby’s wishes, no memorial service will be held. Her final resting place will be on the family farm where she grew up in Springdale, West Virginia.  In lieu of sending flowers, please plant a flower in her memory and make the world a more beautiful place.

Storke Funeral Home of King George assisted the family with arrangements.
