Francis Joseph Volante

A Catholic Prayer Service will be held Friday, August 26 at 7pm at Storke Funeral Home King George Chapel.
The family will receive friends one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the King George Rescue Squad.
Francis Joseph Volante, 87, of King George, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Mary Washington Hospital. Born in New Jersey and son to the late August A. Volante and Marie Jalbert Volante, Francis served his country in the Navy from March 1953 to April 1961. During the Korean War he was stationed aboard the Intrepid. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Navy Occupation Service Medal with European Clasp. After 27 years, he retired from the Naval Surface Warfare Center as the supervisor to the Operations of the Recreation Division. Francis earned a master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and was a member of the Dahlgren Rescue Squad, King George Ruritan Club, King George Lions Club, and the King George Knights of Columbus.
Francis is survived by his wife of almost 59 years Mary Garrison Volante; children Lisa M. Volante, Ben A. Volante; and grandchildren Joseph Brown, Alex Brown, Allison Volante, Ashley Reynolds (Tyler), Sara Hitchings (John); and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Francis was preceded in death by his sons Eric and Christopher Volante; daughter-in-law Hope Hitchings; grandson Paul Hitchings; brothers Robert, Richard; and a sister Virginia Feather.
