Margaret Blanton Lewis

April 20, 1930 - September 25, 2022

Margaret Blanton Lewis, 92, of Bowling Green passed to her heavenly home Sunday, September 25, 2022. She was born April 20, 1930 to John J. and Mary P. Blanton in Balty, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Strother W. “Ted” Lewis; her parents, brothers, Julian J. Blanton and Lewis P. Blanton; and her sister, Lillian Jones. She is survived by her loving sister, Lorene B. Cornell (Bill). Survivors include her three children, Craig B. Lewis (Barbara), Sheryl L. Boyd and Sarah L. Doggett (Todd); six grandchildren, Col. Edward W. Lewis (Samantha), Hilary L. Farnam (Andrew), Kristen S. Luchynsky (Bill), William Randolph Taylor, Taylor Blanton Doggett(Caitlin) and Troy Michael Doggett(Alle); seven great-grandchildren, Garrett and Strother Luchynsky, Harper and Sutton Lewis and Weston and Owen Farnam and Emerson Doggett.  Special thanks to her caregivers, Marquita Redd and her loving granddaughter, Kristen Luchynsky. Margaret was a lifetime resident of Caroline County, Virginia; a graduate of C. T. Smith High School and the Pan American business school in Richmond, VA. She worked in the family business, Blanton Trucking Co. until 1964. She then worked as the Chief Deputy Commissioner of Revenue for Caroline County for 19 years. After that, she became the Clerk of the Caroline General District Court, retiring in 1993. Margaret was a faithful member of Bowling Green Baptist Church and the Philathea Sunday School class. She was a Charter Member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Caroline Chapter #173. Margaret enjoyed her bridge club, doing crossword puzzles daily, spending time with family and friends, taking long rides in the country and dancing with Ted. She was a great cook, always making something delicious for a friend or church function, or to take to a shut-in. Her delicious apple pies were world-class!
