Michael S. Gallier

October 27, 1955 - June 20, 2023

Visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Thursday, June 29 at Storke Funeral Home, King George Chapel. Funeral service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in King George, VA on Friday, June 30, 2023 at 11 am with burial to follow in church graveyard.

Michael S. Gallier, 67, of King George, VA departed this life on June 20, 2023.  His survivors include his loving wife Julia Meade Gallier, their son Benjamin (Rebecca), and granddaughters Claire and Peyton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sterling and Susie Gallier of Appomattox, VA, his daughter Marsha Nichols Gallier, and his brother Richard B. Gallier, Sr.

Mike grew up in Appomattox, VA and was an honor graduate of Appomattox County High School where he was very active in sports and the FFA.  He was a graduate of James Madison University (magna cum laude) and received the JMU Mathematics Department Award.  He later earned a Master of Engineering Administration degree from Virginia Tech.

He worked for the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, VA for most of his professional career.  His many technical and leadership contributions were acknowledged by his receipt of numerous awards including the Navy Meritorious Service Award and the John Adolphus Dahlgren Award.

Mike attended and was very active at Trinity United Methodist Church in King George.  He combined his love of Church and softball by playing in the King George Church Softball league for many years.  He was also active in the King George community having served on the L. E. Smoot Memorial Library Board of Trustees, the Rappahannock Community College Board, the King George Summer Lunch Bunch, and coached youth baseball & soccer.  He enjoyed tutoring math for many years in the King George County schools.
